Welcome!

A colleague has a cartoon posted on her office door. It depicts a group of students attending a local Board of Education meeting where a unanimous vote was taken banning sex education in the schools. The group of students  storms out proclaiming, “Well at least we have the streets”. Amusing at best, pitiful at least.

The best place for sexual information is in a structured academic environment that has ongoing exchanges, throughout the semester, where all information about the human sexual endeavor is presented in context.

Done right you get an eye popping WOW experience!

In my opinion, there is no substitute for an alive interactional environment for fully learning about the sexual self. If you cannot be with me in my classroom or my office, the next best option is “ Sex on the Island”.

Good sexuality education aims toward reducing sexual anxiety, guilt, shame, and inhibition while expanding sexual awareness, all the while respecting individual core values. Check out the links I have posted. They can be a starting place for sexual information/ resources, education, whimsy, and humor.

I invite you to email me with questions, concerns, and fears. I will do my best to respond to your queries in a timely manner.

In the future, I will post blogs that will be of interest. Feel free to check back.

I think it’s good that there is a human sexuality class at school. There are so many people to scared to face the truth about their sexual past and some scared to ask parents and others. But school is the only place where they can share their feelings and hear others and realize they are not the only ones with problems and questions.

I too think that schools are an excellent place to have an open dialogue about sexual thoughts and feelings. In addition, it is the one place where one can get accurate information about matters concerning sexuality– a place to debunk myths, urban legends and downright falsehoods. I’m glad you are having a positive experience in the classroom….. I think your particular class is very open, inquisitive and cool.

I too believe that it is good to have a human sexuality class in schools. I believe that this kind of class should be exposed at a younger age then the age of 19. kids today are going out and going around doing things they are not fully well understood. there are more and more teen pregnancy I believe that if the younger generation had more information about their actions there would be less teen pregnancy. I believe your class will be very fun and educational. also it will give everyone including myself a better understanding of sex, our body, and our emotions

I love this class. I think it extremely is useful to know about your sexuality and I recommend this class to everybody. Most parents consider sex a taboo subject that’s why they don’t feel comfortable get onto that subject with their children. I have made so many mistakes that I could have avoided if I were informed and I am sure I am not the only one.
Im looking forward to learning more.

I really enjoy being in the Human sexuality’s class. I learn a lot of stuff. It’s a very interesting class and it should be required like any other sciences’s classes like math, physic etc… because we don’t only learn just for school, we also learn for the real life. Sometimes people think that they know a lot about sex but acually they don’t really know much. I want to say thank you to Dr Pinhas because now I feel more comfortable talking about sex and also more prepare. I wish I had a class like this a long time ago, yeah a long time ago!

    Dr. Pinhas,
I really enjoyed your class this semester. What was a major plus for me was how you emphasizd with explosive actions and words the important topics and how you described each. I was able to be drawn into every subject we covered because of your expressive language, which enabled me to have a better insight on the whole experience of being in your Human Sexuality Class.
Thank you again for a great experience.
